MEDITERRANEA

The installation will consist of two steles of pointed amphorae located at two key points in the TripiAbakainon area: at the entrance of the archaeological excavations of the ancient Agorà and on a hill in the hamlet of Campogrande overlooking the Gulf of Tindari.

Pointed amphorae were containers that spread throughout the Mediterranean in ancient times for the transport of foodstuffs.

In my installation this ancient object of use is transformed into a symbol : no longer a container of goods, but a vessel of memory .
Each amphora holds millennia of navigation and cultural influences that have contributed to building the identity of the Mediterranean peoples.
What were once the Amazon packages of antiquity are now transformed into an emblem of the connection between peoples.

Sicily and ancient Abakainon , a thousand-year-old crossroads of civilizations, represent an essential part and beating heart of this story.

The stele, firmly rooted in the earth and at the same time reaching towards the sky, is a tribute to our history and a hymn of hope for the future.
To remind us that the roots of humanity are the same and that no one should be called a foreigner.
